8 people killed by a Suicide Bomber in Maiduguri Market

An suicide bomber carried out an early morning in Maiduguri market, killing at least 8 people and injuring several others.

An eyewitness told Bloom Gist on the scene of the bombing said a tricycle rider in his 20s detonated a bomb at a bus station in Gamboru market around 7:00am WAT.

A security source confirmed that 8 people died in the early morning blast.

‘’We were on the other side of the road waiting ‎for passengers, and suddenly we heard a loud explosion, I fell and for a few minutes I didn't know where I was, I couldn't believe it,'' Ibrahim Usman, an eyewitness told Bloom Gist.

''I saw 8 dead bodies scattered including that of the bomber and some were lying down wounded.''

Another eyewitness, a fruit vendor, told Bloom Gist  ''you could see what this blast had caused us this morning, the suicide bomber has wasted innocent lives.''

The city of Maiduguri remains calm as residents went about their normal daily activities with heavy security seen near the scene of the attack.
