10 people killed in twin blasts in Baghdad
At least ten people were killed in twin explosions that targeted a Shia mosque in Baghdad’s Sadr City neighborhood Friday, a police source told Anadolu Agency.

The source said that “two suicide bombers attempted to enter al-Husseiniya Mosque during [Friday] prayer, but their explosive vests went off before they reached their target.”

The death toll is expected to rise because of the explosions’ severity.

In recent years, bombings and shooting attacks – which often target civilians – have become a common occurrence in war-torn Iraq, especially Baghdad.

Iraq has suffered a devastating security vacuum since June 2014, when Daesh overran the northern city of Mosul, the country’s second largest city.
