The Miracle of Rivers by Ibim Semenitari
As noted by Mrs Tamunoibim Semenitari in "The Miracle of Rivers" regarding the Amaechi years, the 2007/2011 Rivers state commissioner for information and communication said;

"Everything Governor Amaechi achieved in Education, Health care, Social and Physical security, Agriculture, Housing, Internally generated Revenue and Infrastructure Development became easy fodder for people with an inflexible resolve to misinform the public. And as history has taught us, if you do not tell your own story, others would and when they do, it will probably be to serve their own purpose."

She also noted that the alarm raised by the governor and the brain work done by the EAC resulted in the development of a plan known today as the 'Energy Corridor' which ran through the south south region instead of Lagos.

As we all know; in the social sector, there was an array of extensive infrastructural development in the education and health sectors. The state's primary and secondary model schools, primary care centres, tertiary hospitals are now second to none in Nigeria. New fire service stations were built, a 180 megawatt power station has been constructed at at Afam and 28 substations were installed all over Rivers state. There are other power facilities that have been provided to improve power supply.

These are all efforts by the Amaechi administration which was targeted at bringing back the lost glory of Port - Harcourt as the Garden City. His administration also focused on Physical and social security as regarding which, she noted;

"As for social security, the purpose of the Amaechi government was to make militancy less lucrative, if the people had good, nonviolent livelihoods, there will not be a need to fight in the forest"

From agriculture to human capital development and from education, health, infrastructure, micro credit schemes to sports; the aim was to widen the economy, create wealth and the population in a sustainable way, rather than just 'share the money' as some local political actors suggested. As Amaechi once said "Bottom line of security is social justice and social secirity".

In the course of the Amaechi tenure, a good number of large scale farm ventures were created, there is now a new RISONPALM and other big farms such as the Songai Farms initiative, Buguma Fish Farm, Etche Agric Village and the Banana Plantation have been created.

He also focused on building human capital, massive physical infrastructure, the greater Port - Harcourt City, Education(Healthy mind, Healthy body) I.e The magic in the UST and Health, amongst many others.

As regards to the Healthy Mind Healthy Body project, you can see the statistics below:

Old primary schools: 1300 with 6 classrooms each and a total of 7,800 classrooms.

Proposed New Primary Schools: 750 with 14 classrooms each and a total of 10,500 classrooms.

Completed new primary schools: 500 with 14 classrooms each and a total of 7,000 classrooms.
Take over salaries of primary schools from the LGAs amounting to about 2 billion naira per month.
Targeted building of 200 schools in first year.

Also, he set out to move the state's economy from oil to agriculture and he successful set the foundation for this new model. He also went into governance to advance the fight for true federalism and resource control from the goons to intellectual.

"He proved that anyone could do it, and that is why he is vehemently opposed to those who want to replace perpetual Ikwerre deprivation with total Ikwerre domination"; she added.
