According to one of them who Spoke to Bloom Gist, some of them were deported because of fake/illegal stay permit while others were not even told why they were being deported back to Nigeria.
"I myslef, I don't even know what I did wrong, I was going to a friend's place one Sunday morning a the UK police stopped and ordered me to enter their van, I was shocked because I know too well that I've not done anything wrong and no need to be afraid". one of the deportees who wishes to stay anonymous told Bloom Gist.
He continued "When we got to the station, I was detained, nobody even bordered to tell me what was going on, one morning they brought me out and told me that they are deporting me back to Nigeria. After some arguments to find out what I'm being accused for that'll make them deport me, I asked them to released me so that I will go home to pack my belonging and they refused and the next place I found my self is here in Nigeria
Reports said that the UK government had planned to deport over 29,000 Nigerians between 2015 and 2016 and this one of the first batch of people to be deported.
Shutting down of Embassy
The Nigerian government has said its not happy over UK's decision to deport Nigerians staying in their country when Nigeria has other UK citizens and companies in Nigeria, working and operating freely and they don;t understand why UK will start deport harmless Nigerian citizens.
Following the deportation of Nigerians in UK, Nigeria government has threaten to shut down UK embassy in Nigeria if the deportation of it's citizens continues without valid and considerable reasons behind it
Nigeria government has also stated that the UK government must ensure that those being deported are really Nigerians, medically fit to travel.
