The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on Wednesday said it has picked Houston in the U.S. as the camping site for the Super Eagles in preparation for the 2014 World Cup.
Emmanuel Ikpeme, the association’s Director, Technical told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja the team would proceed to Brazil for the mundial from the city. More stories after the cut...

NAN recalls that Ademola Olajire, the NFA Assistant Director (Communications) had earlier said the association would pick the city after its agent must have concluded every necessary arrangement.
The team’s head coach, Stephen Keshi, had earlier named two cities, Miami in Florida and Houston in Texas as possible camping sites, pending NFA’s approval.
Meanwhile, Keshi on Wednesday listed Joseph Yobo, the team’s captain, among 23 players invited to camp in preparation for the international friendly against Mexico.
The match, scheduled to take place in Atlanta, U.S. on March 5, is part of the team’s preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
A statement issued by Olajire said Ejike Uzoenyi, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN), was also invited.
Also invited were Israel-based defender Juwon Oshaniwa, Canada-based striker Bright Dike and Kunle Odunlami, the home-based Super Eagles defender who made CAF’s list of Best Eleven at the 2014 CHAN.
New invitees include former junior internationals Ramon Azeez and Shehu Abdullahi, as well as Belgium-based strikers Imoh Ezekiel and Michael Uchebo.
Other invited players include goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide, as well as defenders Elderson Echiejile, Efe Ambrose, Godfrey Oboabona, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Kenneth Omeruo.
