When it comes to apologizing for an accident, Pop singer, Rihanna goes above and beyond.
The Barbadian beauty was sitting next L.A. Police Commission President, Steve Soboroff, on Friday, at the Los Angeles Clippers Game 3 play off game against Oklahoma City Thunder, and they decided to take a selfie together.
Unfortunately, the mini photo session ended on a sad note when Riri accidentally dropped Soboroff’s phone on the court and cracked the screen.
Of course, the reasonable thing to do would be to get him a brand new phone, right? Sure. But Rihanna did more than that.
“Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff :),” the 26-year-old tweeted. And then she donated $25,000 to a fund for cadets and fallen officers.
Soboroff announced the singer’s donation to the Los Angeles Police Foundation at a police commission meeting on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times, saying the singer pledged the generous donation to help fund police cadets from underprivileged backgrounds and the families of fallen officers.
But that’s not all. Soboroff saw Rihanna again at Game 4 and asked if she would sign the cracked selfie phone so he could auction it off to raise funds for LAPD’s cadet program and the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, to support the families of fallen officers, so she did and wrote, “Sorry! I ♥ LAPD. Rihanna.”
The phone is currently going for $1,225 on eBay.
