This massive oval shaped object was removed from the body of a 62-year-old man in Washington D.C. |
According to Huffington Post, the discovery sent some chills down the spines of the surgeons when learned about the strange egg-shaped object at a hospital in Washington, D.C. --- And despite bearing a strong resemblance to an egg, it turned out to be a benign 3.34-inch growth,
Dr. Rachael Sussman, an urologist, while describing the strange object, said, “The mass was likely made of a small piece of fat that fell away from its attachments when the patient was very young.
“Over time the fat calcified and continued to grow. Like a pearl inside an oyster.”
New England Journal of Medicine published a report on the object recently though it was removed in 2013.
According to Dr Jonah Murdock and Dr Sussman, the authors of the journal. it is the largest growth of its kind removed from a human body.
