BENIN (The Bloom Gist) — The Nigeria Police in Benin have arrested two of the three persons have allegedly raped a 6-year-old girl at a primary school in the city.
The Police at Aideyan said they were on the trail of one of the suspects, while the two arrested suspects were currently in detention.
The shameful incident occurred last week and the family of the victim appealed to the police and the state government to arrest the suspects after they fled their homes.
The victim's mother, Mrs. Magdalene, told The Bloom Gist that the daughter complained of severe pains in her private part, adding that it was on interrogation that it was discovered that some persons had raped her.
“I want to thank the police for arresting the suspects. Though one is still on the run, I have confidence in the police. “What they did to my daughter, a six-year-old child, is wicked and evil. I want justice to be done; they should be punished accordingly.”
Edo State Coordinator of Child Protection Network, Jennifer Ero, described child defilement as man’s inhumanity to man and called on the police and concern authorities to ensure the victim got justice.
She said: “Three of them connived and forcefully raped and defiled a child of six years old. Right now, they have arrested two of them and they are at Aideyan police station while the third person absconded.
Bloom Gist has learnt that the authorities of the school where the rape took place has been threaterning to chase the woman and her daughter away for taking the incident to the public. The woman, we learnt, owns a shop at the school premises,
