The command said they acted on this following a tip-off call by a school teacher who's identity is withheld after pupils discovered the ammunition on the school’s playground, The Police Public Relations Officer, Ezekiel Onyeke said.
“The EOD team exhumed 1,233 of 7.62mm. (Long) live ammunition from the dump. The police are still combing the environment to ensure that the area is cleared of arms and ammunition or other explosives.”
We are yet to confirm if any culprit has been arrested in connection with the discovery, although the police image maker further assured that an ongoing investigation has been launched into the case.
