#BayelsaDecides: 5 people dead, others injures in Southern Ijaw

According to reports from Situation room, five people have been allegedly killed in Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa state.


This is coming following series of violence which had erupted in the state since yesterday night, where gunshots have been repeatedly heard in several parts of the state.There were also gunshots reported in Brass local government area of the state.

As at the time of fling this report, Naij.com correspondents on ground were yet to ascertain the level of havoc wreaked by the shootings as Southern Ijaw is across water.

Soldiers escorting thugs — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised alarm that soldiers are escorting political thugs allegedly sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC , to perpetrate electoral malpractices in the Bayelsa governorship election.

The PDP raised the arm via its official verified tweeter aacount @PDPNIGERIA.

Heavy shooting reported at Oporoma headquarters of Southern Ijaw local government area has forced residents to stay indoors. According to a tweet by NTA credited to Bayelsa INEC Resident Electoral Officer, INEC officials were held hostage at Oporoma headquaters of South Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa; heavy shootings witnessed.

This is in spite of the ten gunboats deployed in the waterways to wade off would be trouble makers in the area.
