The
arrest of 13 suspected armed robbers who were terrorizing the residents
of Katsina State was confirmed by The State Commissioner of Police,
Muhammed Hurdi, on August 7, 2013.
The CP said that one of the main specialisation of the suspects was snatching vehicles at gunpoint.
“The hoodlums were arrested in Kafur, Kankara, Safana, Sabuwa and Funtua Local Government Areas,” Muhammed Hurdi stated.
The
CP also named the items recovered from the suspects, such as dane guns,
locally made pistols, live ammunitions, motorcycles, cutlasses and a
police belt.
Muhammed
Hurdi also revealed that the command was currently investigating eight
armed robbery cases and that as soon as investigations were completed,
the suspects would be charged to court to be prosecuted.
He
added that the four suspected kauraye, who specialised in attacking
people mostly at night in Katsina metropolis, would also be charged to
court.
Finally,
the CP warned motorists with tinted glasses to start removing them as
the command would soon commence the arrest and prosecution of owners of
such vehicles.
