This warning was sent by a former militant leader in Niger-Delta, popularly called
General Preye Ekpebide.

Speaking in Bomadi, Delta State, Ekpebide warned that even though former
warlords have embraced the amnesty programme, it was no guarantee that they would watch
and stay aloof, if Jonathan was not treated fairly as demanded by the constitution of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He said “since this was the first time a South-South person is occupying the number one
position in the country, the principle of equity and fairness demands that every Nigerian,
wherever they may come from, have equal rights and privileges.
“The peaceful disposition of the South-South region should not be taken for granted as the boys
are waiting for Jonathan to declare his 2015 ambition.”
He frowned that the North and the South–West regions have been enjoying the oil blocs from
the South-South for more than four decades to the detriment of the region, adding “if they do
not want to lose these benefits, they should desist from troubling the Jonathan administration.”
Ekpebide noted that the South-South region was keenly watching the security situation in the
North–Eastern states, especially Borno State, describing the development there as a ploy by
some group of persons to discredit the Jonathan’s administration which he said, will not work.
