Ahead of the 2015 presidential elections the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stressed that President Goodluck Jonathan did not sign any agreement to serve for a single term in office.

It was made known by the ruling party Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday. Read More after the cut...

It would be recalled that ex-president, chief Olusegun Obasanjo in a recent interview averred that Jonathan promised not to serve beyond one term.
However, responding to Obasanjo's statement, Secondus affirmed that the President would contest in the next year’s presidential poll based on the provisions of the country’s constitution.
His words:
"I am not aware of any agreement that President Jonathan entered into with anyone or group in 2011 that he will only serve as President for one term. I have also not seen any agreement. No one or group has been able to produce such a document. The PDP has no knowledge of such a document."
Commenting on the controversy surrounding some oil wells in Rivers State, the party chieftain said that the media was not the right platform to discuss the issue, but through the courts.
As for the PDP efforts to bring back its defected members, the official said that the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, had been working round the clock to make it happen.
What is more, the official claimed that Amaechi would automatically become the leader of the PDP if he (Amaechi) agrees to return to the party.
"The governors, like every other Nigerian, have one vote. The governors do not keep the votes of those who will vote in the villages and towns in their states in their respective government houses.
Secondus proceeded:
"They vote on election day like any other voter. So, we should not give a man the powers that he does not deserve."
