Aggrieved APC Members In Rivers State Hold Parallel Congresses

Unknown | Friday, April 18, 2014 |
Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter, set to organise a parallel ward and local government congress to protest alleged injustice and discrimination in the party.

The opposition members within Nigeria’s opposition force #1, demanded for ten percent membership into positions at the ward, local government and state congresses of the APC. The protesters emerged from Legacy parties.

Their leader, Mmuen Kpagane, expressed dissatisfaction with the way in which the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, and other leaders are treating the members of the Legacy party.

“We demand that as this congresses are going on members of the Legacy parties should be made Chairman or Secretary during the congress.

“But since they have refused to consider our plea, we have conducted our own ward and Local government congresses,” the former members of ACN, ANPP and CPC, popularly referred to as ‘Legacy parties’ within the APC, said in a statement.

Kpagane has also warned that if the decision to include members of the legacy party in the state was not honoured, they would not hesitate to hold their own, parallel, congress in Rivers State the following week.
