France international, Zinedine Zidane has been mandated to take charge of Real Madrid reserves as from next season. The move is believed to be his first step to being appointed Real’s manager in the near future.

The appointment will be Zidane’s third none playing role at Real Madrid after first becoming the director of football before being named as one of Carlo Ancelotti’s assistants...

Real Madrid’s B Team who are also called Castilla were relegated to the Spanish third division last season. A statement confirming Zidane’s appointment stated that the Frenchman will be assisted by youth coach, Santiago Sanchez and the two have been mandated to secure promotion for the reserve side.

The Statement reads: "Zinedine Zidane will manage Castilla next season. Zizou, who was Carlo Ancelotti's first squad assistant coach this year, will start a new stage of his career at Real Madrid. Zidane will be joined by youth coach Santiago Sanchez and has already started working on future plans for the reserve team squad."

Zidane has been tipped to take charge of Real after current manager Carlo Ancelotti, however, it is believed that La Liga giants are keen for the former world footballer of the year to gain experience as a first hand manager.

A return to France to manage Monaco for the next two season was initially rumoured to be on the card but it seems Real Madrid are keen to have their prized jewel closer to home.
