Football superstar David Beckham on Thursday visited survivors of a powerful typhoon

in the eastern Philippines, where millions still live in tents and makeshift houses three

months after the disaster. More After the cut...

Beckham visited a sports complex that had been turned into an evacuation centre in Tacloban City, the capital of the eastern province of Leyte, which was worst hit by Typhoon Haiyan on Nov. 8, 2013.
More than 6,200 people were killed by the storm, with 1,785 still missing.
Wearing a black UNICEF shirt, Beckham made Valentine’s Day cards with the children, who sang for him.
He also chatted with families staying inside a tent as hundreds of survivors gathered around to catch a glimpse of the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Los Angeles Galaxy star.
Beckham and his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria, had raised money for the victims of Haiyan by selling some of their designer clothes, shoes and accessories.
He last visited the Philippines in 2011, where he played a football match with young Filipinos. (dpa/NAN)
