According to her, she used to be a herbs dealer before a herbalist approached her last year and demanded for human parts. When he told the money to be gained, she became enticed. She said she worked hand in hand with a one Tanntoloun who works in a graveyard and he sells a skull for N10,000 which she later sells for N20,000, adding that she has only sold 10 human skulls.
She also buys pieces of bones for N2,000, liver and intestines for N1,000 each and resells for N5,000 or more depending on the buyer’s bargaining power.
She said her customers are herbalists and trado-medical practitioners who use the parts to prepare concoction for sick children.
"I am not a killer. I have never killed anyone. I only request for decomposed human parts. I needed the money to feed my three children of ages 30, 27 and 23 respectively," she said.
The cemetery guard, Rasheed Tantoloun said he usually digs dead bodies out of their graves with the aid of one Ibrahim, whom he hired and they sell the parts to ready buyers who are usually herbs dealers while also alleging that his employer instructed them to exhume dead bodies that have stayed long in order to get spaces for fresh ones.
Parading the suspects, the state Police Commissioner, Umar Manko, said detectives led by the SARS commander, Abba Kyari had posed as buyers and bought a human head from Salami at N120,000 and that's how they were arrested. When they searched Salami's house, they found human head, liver, intestines and other parts and also discovered that most of them were still fresh.
