This praise was made via a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser (Media & Publicity) Dr Reuben Abati, and published on his official web-page.
The President noted that Buhari’s declarations were from “a true patriot, respected former Head of State, revered elder statesman and nationalist”.
Jonathan applauded Buhari’s call on all the Nigerians to remain steadfast and work in unity to secure a victory over those “who currently threaten national security”.
The Nigerian leader fully agreed with Buhari that a minority must never be allowed to “bring the nation to its knees through terror”.
Therefore the President welcomed APC’s kind offer of support and co-operation in dealing with the challenge of terrorism, expressed his readiness to work with him and all other patriotic Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations.
It would be recalled that in his essay, dated April 20, one of the leaders of the opposition force urged to put a stop to mutual accusations and to start working together in the war against insurgency.
