Brazil beats Colombia 2-1 to qualify for Semi Finals of the 2014 World Cup

It was one of the most riveting matches of the World Cup so far. Hosts Brazil defeated Colombia with a 2 – 1 scoreline. Thiago Silva put Brazil in the lead with a 7th minute goal. This got the thousands of Brazil fans in the stadium jumping with joy.

While Brazil were the favourites, Colombia had many rooting for them with their great performances so far in the World Cup especially the exceptional star turn of attacking midfielder James Rodriguez. After a disallowed offside goal by Colombia, Brazil scored once more with a fantastic shot byDavid Ruiz.

There was a ray of light for Colombia with an 80th minute penalty by James Rodriguez but it was not to be as in the end, Brazil was the victor!

Earlier in the day, Germany defeated France 1 – 0.

The 2 teams will meet in the Semi Finals.
