Egyptian prosecutor Hisham Barakat died in hospital

Egyptian prosecutor Hisham Barakat has died in hospital following bomb attack on his convoy.

The respected prosecutor died in an Egyptian hospital Monday after his convoy was attacked with bomb, he was with his body guards driving to his office when the bomb his his motor card in Cairo, the Egyptyian Capital.

The Bloom Gist earlier reported that Barakat had been suffering from "internal bleeding" and that he was undergoing surgery on Monday at the Nozha hospital in the Egyptian capital.

Egypt state prosecutor's motorcade  has been hit by a bomb blast in Cairo.

A senior police officer said the top prosecutor Hisham Barakat and his bodyguards had been taken to hospital following Monday's attack.

Barakat was said to be "in good condition", the officer added. Another police official said the prosecutor had been wounded by flying glass from the explosion.

Local newspaper Al Ahram said that the attack took place outside Cairo's military college and that Barakat was taken to al-Nozha hospital, also in Heliopolis.
