One of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) member was killed and a police officer was injured in an exchange of fire in southeastern Batman province Tuesday, Sources said.

The sources said PKK members had opened fire on a police car in Turkey’s Batman province, leaving a deputy police chief injured. Police responded and the resulting exchange of fire killed a militant; police also captured another.

Police were looking for another suspect involved in the incident.

More than 60 Turkish police personnel and soldiers have lost their lives in renewed violence between the Turkish state and the PKK since late June.
