LONDON — Paris Saint-Germain F.C star, Angel di Maria has stated during his press chat that he wouldn't celebrate if he scored against Real Madrid on his return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

There was no goal and no celebration but the Argentine did remind supporters what they have been missing since he left at the start of last season.

'He was spectacular tonight and was excellent in the last league game too. He offered a lot going forward but also defensively,' said PSG coach Laurent Blanc of the winger who hit the frame of the goal direct from a corner and the crossbar with a free-kick.

PSG suffered from poor finishing with both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani letting Blanc and 4,000 travelling supporters down but Di Maria did everything but score.

There were eight successful dribbles, his passing accuracy reached 82 per cent and he ran almost 10km.

'We were ten times better than them tonight,' he said. 'We played our best game of the season but we made a mistake and they punished us. I'm still convinced we can do big things this season.'

Di Maria told Spanish newspaper Marca in the build-up to the game: 'My intention was always to stay [at Madrid]. I don't really know what happened on the inside [of the deal]. These are things that representatives deal with. It happens in football.'

He also put his nightmare spell in Manchester down to problems with Louis van Gaal and with issues away from the pitch.

He said: 'I started very well but then I had problems with people at the club, I started being left on the bench, then my home was robbed. It all just made me want to get out of there as quickly as possible.'
