According to the military's reports, three Boko Haram members were reportedly killed while some escaped with gunshot wounds, a statement released by Sani Usman, the Nigerian Army acting spokesperson read.
Bloom Gist was told that during the combat, one Nigeria soldier also died when troops at Gajigana were attacked by the terrorist sect.
Items recovered from the sect included; a Toyota Hilux, 1 PKM gun, 1 general purpose machine gun, 3 AK-47 rifles, 1 rocket propelled grenade tube and 1 rocket propelled grenade bomb, 1 charger, 7 boxes of 7.62mm link, 1 GP 340 hand held radio, 4 boxes of 7.62mm X 54mm ammunitions, 3 anti-riot hand held grenade, 30 cleaning kits, 2 packets of artillery primers and 97 pieces of zela fuse.
The soldiers recovered 1 PKM gun, 1 general purpose machine gun, 3 AK-47 rifles from the insurgents.
“The changing tactics of the Boko Haram Terrorists requires the collective efforts of the locals in giving timely information to the Military and other security agencies for swift response in order to get rid of the terrorists because these are people easily blends with locals,” the statement read.
The military urged the citizens to be on alert and security conscious always, saying it would continue to do all it could with the support of the locals to protect lives and property.
The situation in Gulak and Gajigana has been brought under control and normalcy has returned.
Boko Haram militants stormed Gulak around 7pm on Sunday, in order to take it over. They reportedly burnt down a military base together with three artilleries.
