Gran Sherri with Mila |
Mrs. Dickson, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, bravely stepped in when her daughter Mandy found out she couldn't carry a baby.
Mandy, who wed hubby Jamie Stephens in 2013, had managed to get pregnant by IVF but lost the baby early. Docs warned her the chances of again having a premature birth were high.
They faced a choice, adoption or surrogacy.
It was then that Sherri stepped in to volunteer to carry her daughter and son-in-law’s baby.
On the third attempt Sherri, from North Dakota in the US, got pregnant with her own granddaughter.

Beautiful Mila was born a month ago and Sherri is the proudest gran in the world.
Sherri told ABC News: “Watching your child lose a child is the definition of sadness.
“I can’t describe it any other way. It breaks your heart.
“I decided that if they needed somebody to carry their child, I would volunteer.”
Although the pregnancy was easy, Sherri admitted the birth was difficult.
She added: “I was very fortunate, I was playing tennis a week before I delivered, and working out with my trainer, but the delivery at 51 was way harder than the delivery at 33 with my last baby.
“There are times I look at her and say 'We did that, you know?’ We gave her what she wants'.”
