Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has on Wednesday, 27th May, 2015, steps down as envoy of the Middle East Quartet diplomatic group after eight years in the job,

Acording to to his spokeswoman who spoke to newsmen shortly after the meeting “Tony Blair has tendered his resignation in a letter to (UN Secretary General) Ban Ki-moon,”

Bloom Gist has learnt that Blair is planning to resign officially by the end of next month - Sources also said that he will continue to work with “the US, the EU and others, without any formal role” to support efforts to bring about a two-state solution and will “remain active on the issues and in the region,”.

The State Department Spokeswoman has dismissed the claims that emerged in March that former prime minister Tony Blair decided to leave due to unease in Washington and Europe over his poor relations with the Palestinian Authority, as 'Incorrect'.
